Doctor Edward de Bono divides thinking into two schools. The first is "Vertical Thinking" which is the process that uses logic and has been the traditional historical way of thinking.
Logic is useful for tracing along known pathways to arrive at predictable results, but it does not produce NEW concepts and ideas.
The second school is "Lateral Thinking".
